<p>Arthur Martin Janis “Catka” was born on September 6, 1958 in Pine Ridge Sd to James H. Janis and Merrietta Joan (Thompson) Janis. Arthur made his journey to the Spirit World on April 1, 2024 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City, SD.</p><p><br></p><p>Arthur is survived by his daughter, Alisa Watson; grandchildren, Shalene Red Bird, Artemasa Wounded Head, and Reuben Wounded Head III; great grandchildren, Roman Roybal, Ila Roybal, Aviana Roybal, Aurora Miller, Deimos Wounded Head, Rosalani Wounded Head, Alyana Wounded Head, Alyzar Wounded Head, and Layne Wounded Head; siblings, James W. Janis, Keith Janis, Esther Erikson, Darwin J. Janis, Stanley T. Janis, Cora Chapman, Lamont David Janis, Arlene Francis Broken Rope, and Maxine Joan Broken Rope; uncle, Thomas Janis; aunt, Esther Trullinger; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Janis and Merrietta Joan (Thompson) Janis; brother, Christopher Michael Janis and Jeffrey Lynn Janis; paternal grandparents, Edward and Ellen (Rouse) Janis; maternal grandparents, Merle &amp; Cora (Traversie) Thompson; spouse, Kathy M. Bianas; and a great grandbaby, Boy Wounded Head.</p><p><br></p><p>Pallbearers are Reuben Wounded Head III, Darwin Janis, Stanley Janis, Keith Janis, Jack Trullinger, Ronald Trullinger, and Lamont Janis. </p><p><br></p><p>Honorary pallbearers will be the American Indian Movement, We Will Remember Survival Group, Oyuhpe Tokala, Warrior Women Society, Wanbli Ska Society, Debra Jeffries, Earl Tall &amp; Family, Rudolfo Red Dog, Leo Rousseau &amp; Family, and all his friends and relatives.</p><p><br></p><p>Wake Services: One night wake service starting at 4:00 PM, Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the On Common Ground Church in Rapid City, SD located at 610 St. Francis Street with evening services starting at 7:00 PM</p><p>Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the On Common Ground Church in Rapid City, SD located at 610 St. Francis Street.</p><p>Officiating: Minister Jonathan Old Horse</p><p>Traditional Lakota Services: Keith Janis</p><p>Burial Services: Cremation to follow services with burial to be held at a later date</p><p><br></p>
